Whitney Daum, a distinguished figure in the field of infection prevention, has received notable recognition by being profiled in the prestigious Marquis Who’s Who biographical volumes. Marquis Who’s Who is known for its thorough selection process that considers factors such as current reference value, important accomplishments, and prominence in a particular field. Ms. Daum stands out due to her position as infection prevention program manager at CommonSpirit Health, a role she assumed in 2025.

In her capacity, she is at the helm of managing infection prevention measures at CommonSpirit Longmont United Hospital and St. Elizabeth Hospital. Her role involves the careful scrutiny of laboratory reports, microbiology findings, culture results and surgical notes, essential in the identification of potential healthcare-associated infections. She also expends her expertise to evaluate locations of concern where communicable diseases can pose threats to patients, staff, or visitors. In addition, she keeps a pulse on trends to apply cutting-edge scientific best practices in an effort to prevent adverse events.

Before joining the CommonSpirit Health team, Ms. Daum honed her skills at HCA Healthcare from 2016 to 2025. She climbed the ranks to take on several roles, including infection preventionist, manager, director, and abstractor. Her pivotal contribution to infection prevention was particularly felt during the COVID-19 pandemic, during which she and her team demonstrated incredible adaptability and ability to uphold scientific standards amidst rapidly changing information, striving always to protect patients, staff, and the community.

An experienced professional, Ms. Daum has solidified her reputation in the field through previous roles at Denver Health and University of Colorado Health Northern Colorado where she played instrumental roles in the development and implementation of infection control protocols. She is also a proud alumni of the Akron Children’s Hospital in Ohio where she served as a staff registered nurse, and the Children’s Hospital Colorado where she provided patient care in surgical environments while supporting infection control initiatives.

On top of her impressive resume, Ms. Daum has pursued advanced degrees, obtaining a Master of Public Health focusing on infectious disease from the Colorado School of Public Health and a Master of Science in Nursing in infection prevention and control from American Sentinel College of Nursing & Health Sciences. She is also a Magna cum Laude Bachelor of Science in Nursing graduate from the University of Akron. As a testament to her dedication to her profession, Ms. Daum holds various professional certifications in nursing and infection control.

Beyond her exceptional professional career, she gives back to the community through advocating for animal rescues, public health causes, and mental health initiatives, as well as volunteering in suicide prevention programs. In recognition of her contributions, she has received various honors such as the nomination for the DAISY Award and induction into the Golden Key International Honour Society. As she looks forward to the rest of her career, Ms. Daum remains committed to her advocacy work, maintaining her focus on providing assistance to individuals who may lack opportunities or face challenges, as she firmly believes every person counts and every effort matters.
