VA Tennessee Valley Healthcare Earns Top Rating for Quality in CMS 2025 Assessment

In a demonstration of excellence in patient care, the VA Tennessee Valley Healthcare System proudly announced its achievement of a five-star rating from the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services’ (CMS) hospital quality ratings for the year 2025. The CMS ratings, renowned for their stringent evaluation parameters, appraise hospitals based on five key metrics — mortality, safety of care, readmission, patient experience, and timely and effective care. A hospital privileging patient safety and achieving high-performance measures across these categories is rewarded with a star rating, with a maximum of five stars confirming the highest quality of healthcare services.

The VA Tennessee Valley Healthcare System has made commendable strides in the past year to enhance its provision of care for veterans. These improvements are reflective in its five-star rating, capping off a year of rigorous patient-focused quality improvements.

Daniel Dücker, executive director of VA Tennessee Valley Healthcare System, expressed his pride on this achievement saying, ‘These ratings highlight the excellent care VA Tennessee Valley Healthcare System provides.’ He further acknowledged the key role of the facility’s staff in this achievement and emphasized their commitment to continual service enhancement to provide exceptional service and convenience for the veterans, caregivers, and survivors they pledge to serve.

Contrary to public perception, the CMS 2025 ratings have been quite favorable for VA hospitals. A massive 77% of VA hospitals that were assessed clinched an Overall Hospital Quality Star Rating of four or five stars, while none had fallen to a one-star rating. Looking at the performance trajectory, more than 90% of VA hospitals with ratings either maintained or improved their 2024-star rating, further underscoring their commitment to continuous quality improvement.

VA Tennessee Valley Healthcare’s recognition marks yet another milestone in the stream of overall improvements that VA hospitals have demonstrated during the Trump Administration’s second term. Detailed information on star ratings and the methodology used for the ratings is available for those interested in digging deeper into the specifics of this quality assessment.
