The rapidly increasing influenza activity in Michigan, as reported by the Department of Health and Human Services, has paid a significant role in precipitating these changes. The DMC’s new visitor guidelines are expected to play a critical role in the control of the influenza spread during this heightened period of activity.
In good company, the DMC’s move mirrors a similar preventive measure taken by Corewell Health. Citing a surge in pediatric respiratory illnesses, Corewell Health opted to limit the number of visitors to its pediatric units across the Beaumont hospitals in Dearborn, Royal Oak and Troy. It now allows only two bedside visitors during the day and one overnight visitor.
