Six-Time Glory: Kaiser Permanente Santa Clara Medical Center Among Newsweek’s World’s Best Hospitals 2024

Kaiser Permanente Santa Clara Medical Center has once again earned a coveted spot on Newsweek magazine’s globally recognized ‘World’s Best Hospitals 2024’ list, marking its sixth-straight year of recognition. This esteemed list, which annually ranks more than 2,400 healthcare institutions in approximately 30 countries, helps to identify leading hospitals worldwide. Kaiser Permanente Santa Clara notably secured the 140th position among over 400 U.S. hospitals that made it onto the global list.

Furthermore, it made its mark as one of the top 20 hospitals in the state of California. Eric Williams (FACHE), the Senior Vice President and Area Manager of Kaiser Permanente Santa Clara, credited the unwavering commitment of their healthcare providers — from physicians and nurses to all healthcare staff – to patient welfare and compassionate care for this significant achievement. The hospital’s continued performance on this esteemed list underscores the dedication, skill, and tireless effort of its healthcare teams.

Rankings on Newsweek’s ‘World’s Best Hospitals’ list are formulated from expert assessments from thousands of global medical professionals, patient experiences, satisfaction scores, and crucial performance measures in healthcare. Some significant aspects assessed include risk-adjusted mortality, readmission frequency, and punctuality of care.

In addition to the overall ranking, Kaiser Permanente Santa Clara also received recognition as one of the ‘Best Hospitals for Infection Prevention.’ This honor is attributed to hospitals across the US that consistently perform above the nationwide average on six critical measures. Notably, these benchmarks include low rates of catheter-associated urinary tract infections, central line associated bloodstream infections, Clostridium difficile (C. diff), Methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus (MRSA) bacteria, and surgical site infections.

Dr. Rakesh Chaudhary, the Chief Physician at the Santa Clara facility of Kaiser Permanente, stressed their relentless focus on delivering personalized care and support that meets the expectations of patients, following up by saying “We focus every day on making sure we are meeting our patients’ needs so they can lead healthy, active lives.”
