As Ebola case numbers increase in the Democratic Republic of the Congo, North Carolina’s Christian relief organization Samaritan’s Purse, located in Boone, is stepping up its efforts to combat the deadly outbreak. The organization has mobilized a disaster response team, positioning key personnel including an outbreak specialist, infection prevention and control specialist, engineer, and medical professionals.
These dedicated experts are charged with establishing a coordinated medical response in the affected regions while additionally providing support to local mission hospitals. They will teach and establish stringent infection prevention, and control procedures, strengthening the hospitals’ ability to combat this outbreak.
As a part of a broader strategic response, the organization is gearing for the deployment of an Ebola Treatment Center. Personal protective equipment, critical in ensuring the safety of both staff and medical personnel working at the partner hospitals of the ministry, is also being prepared for dispatch.
‘Samaritan’s Purse has remained on the forefront of the battle against Ebola for over ten years, and our resolve remains unwavered. We will exhaust every possible resource to assist in saving lives,’ commented Franklin Graham, President of Samaritan’s Purse, reiterating the organization’s commitment to the cause. He also highlighted the organization’s ethos by adding, ‘We seek to remind people that they are not alone in this struggle and that God’s love for them remains steadfast.’
