Newsweek Honors Morristown Medical Center: A World-class Facility for Infection Prevention and Patient Experience

Continuing its extraordinary reputation, Morristown Medical Center, for the sixth consecutive year, has now been recognized among the world’s finest hospitals by Newsweek. This news fortifies the center’s standing in providing excellent care and substantiates its ongoing efforts in infection prevention. Out of numerous healthcare systems in New Jersey, Morristown Medical Center secured the top position in Newsweek’s 2024 listing of the World’s Best Hospitals. The compilation surveyed data from nearly 2,400 hospitals across 30 different countries. Among all the U.S. hospitals listed, Morristown Medical Center impressively stood at the 47th spot.

Furthermore, this esteemed healthcare center secured positions in the Best Hospitals for Infection Prevention and Best Patient Experience categories in 2024. This recognition reflects how the dedicated professionals at Morristown Medical Center strive to provide top-tier care that dramatically improves the lives of their patients.

Hospital President Dr. Trish O’Keefe, RN, expressed her views on this accomplishment, attributing it to the dedication of physicians, nurses and team members who consistently deliver exceptionally high-quality care. The entire staff, O’Keefe noted, took great pride in this honor. She further emphasized that their patient care goes beyond treating ailments. Morristown Medical Center strives to accommodate the latest advancements in specialized care while also focusing on providing compassionate support to patients and their families.

Determining the rankings involved a partnership between Newsweek and the data analytics company, Statista, Inc. This collaboration tabulated scores for each hospital based on an extensive online survey. Over 85,000 medical experts contributed to this survey, along with patient feedback on their general satisfaction levels.

The ranking parameters not only included hygiene and the doctor-to-patient ratio at each hospital but also took into account the utilization of Patient Reported Outcome Measures (PROMs). These standardized questionnaires filled out by patients provide valuable insight into their experience and treatment outcomes.

Newsweek’s list also featured another member of the Atlantic Health System, Overlook Medical Center in Summit, which ranked 147 globally. This testament further highlights the exceptional healthcare services driven by Atlantic Health System’s guidelines.
