New Jersey Hospitals Stand Out in Newsweek’s 2024 ‘World’s Best Hospitals’ List

Newsweek recently released its 2024 ‘World’s Best Hospitals’ list, highlighting six medical centers in New Jersey that surpassed their counterparts in offering quality health services. The publication analyzed data from 2,400 hospitals across 30 countries using a combination of public health data, expert insights, and patient-reported outcome measures (PROMs). PROMs are standardized questionnaires that patients fill out to evaluate their care and treatment outcomes, providing first-hand insights into patient experiences. The rankings, now in their fifth year, represent a credible source of information for patients and health practitioners globally.

Dominating the New Jersey entries is Morristown Medical Center, a member of the Atlantic Health System, securing the 47th position globally with an overall score of 70.63%. This isn’t the first time Morristown has received a high rating—it was also ranked number one in New Jersey in Newsweek’s 2023 rankings. Besides this formidable performance, Morristown was further recognized with an infection prevention award and a patient experience award. The institution’s continued commitment to infection prevention undoubtedly plays a crucial role in these recognitions, a feat of prime importance to professionals in the field.

Other New Jersey hospitals featuring on the list include the Hackensack University Medical Center, with an overall score of 69.72%, The Valley Hospital in Ridgewood scoring 65.75%, and the Overlook Medical Center, also a part of Atlantic Health, with 65.12%. Additionally, Englewood Hospital and Medical Center and Monmouth Medical Center were also honored for their efficient infection prevention protocols.

The top five U.S. hospitals according to Newsweek’s 2024 list are Mayo Clinic (97.51%), Cleveland Clinic (93.17%), The Johns Hopkins Hospital (91.16%), Massachusetts General Hospital (90.97%), and UCLA Health – Ronald Reagan Medical Center (89.36%). Garnering such recognition not only boosts the credibility of these hospitals but also improves patients’ confidence in their services.
