Innovative Infection Control: Trinity Guardion Secures Funding for Expansion of Soteria® Bed Barrier System

Leading hospital bed hygiene solution provider, Trinity Guardion, has successfully amassed a total of $6 million, inclusive of $3.5 million from a Series B funding round. The raised capital will expedite the manufacturing and market introduction of the cutting-edge Soteria® Bed Barrier System.

Established in 2010 and situated in Batesville, Indiana, Trinity Guardion pioneers the production of FDA-approved, reusable hospital bed barriers. These are aimed at mitigating infection risks in various healthcare settings, including acute care, neonatal units, and long-term care facilities. The company’s primary offering, the acclaimed Soteria Bed Barrier, was granted FDA approval in late 2022 and serves as a potent tool in infection control – preventing mattress contamination, restricting infection proliferation, and prolonging mattress durability.

The Soteria Bed Barrier offers pivotal advantages:

Bed and Patient Protection: Hospital mattresses are susceptible to contamination from compromised integumentary systems and biological fluids. The Soteria Bed Barrier shields the mattress and bed structure entirely, thwarting fluid intrusion and making the cleaning process straightforward. This protective factor not only certifies a more sanitary surface but also substantially diminishes the time dedicated to upkeep.

Infection Prevention: Research consistently underscores the infection hazard of tainted hospital mattresses. A 2023 study by Emory University substantiated that dirty beds can disseminate infections to subsequent patients for as long as 90 days after usage. Leveraging an advanced laundry technique that eliminates 99.9999% of pathogens, the Soteria Bed Barrier assists in diminishing hospital-acquired infection rates – achieving a notable 50% decrease in the onset of C. diff infections in a hospital setting.

Mediated through RFID technology and supported by a cloud-based platform, the Soteria® Ecosystem augments efficiency by refining bed barrier oversight. This system empowers healthcare establishments to supervise the availability and cleanliness of bed barriers, enhancing their preparedness for patient service. The Soteria® Neonatal Mattress Barrier, Trinity Guardion’s recent product development, introduces heightened protection custom-designed for neonatal care, streamlining the disinfection process in these sensitive patient populations.

Investor Rich Grant commemorated the product, asserting that Trinity Guardion’s offering guarantees cleaner surfaces and minimizes hospital-associated infections. The recent investment round, led by Queen City Angels and buttressed by Tamiami Angel Fund, Market Street Ventures, and RKCA, intensifies market trust in Trinity Guardion’s portfolio. Legal guidance for the transaction was supplied by Keating, Muething & Klekamp PLL.

Bruce Rippe, Founder and CEO of Trinity Guardion, commented that this investment will bolster their expansion efforts and deepen the company’s networks with infection-control-focused hospitals.
