Cape Fear Valley Hoke Hospital continues its impressive streak, clinching an ‘A’ in Hospital Safety Grade for a remarkable fifth consecutive time from The Leapfrog Group. As a national nonprofit entity devoted to enhancing healthcare quality and safety standards, The Leapfrog Group’s recognition testifies to the persisting commitment of the hospital in inhibiting medical errors, curtailing infections, and delivering safe and superior quality care to their patients.
The Leapfrog Hospital Safety Grade evaluates almost 3,000 hospitals throughout the United States. By considering up to 30 evidence-based parameters of patient safety, grades are awarded. These are determined under the oversight of a national expert panel, allowing potential patients to make well-informed healthcare decisions.
In response to their achievement, Sonja McLendon, Hoke Healthcare’s President, acknowledged the significant team effort and dedication of the hospital staff. She confirmed that every department, shift, and role contributes to a culture that prioritizes patient safety. She takes pride in delivering care that earns the trust of their community. Being recognized for the fifth time consecutively proves that safety isn’t just a goal but a core component of their identity. She commends the team’s ongoing efforts in enhancing their standards to ensure their patients experience the safest and most reliable care.
Several crucial initiatives contribute to Cape Fear Valley Hoke Hospital’s consistent success in achieving this top grade. These include pioneering programs that share space with students from surgical technology and central sterile processing programs. These programs have seen subsequent expansion and renovations. Dr. Stuart Shelton, a respected maternal-fetal medicine specialist at Cape Fear Valley, has also played a significant role with over 20 years dedicated to stellar high-risk obstetric care.
