Cape Fear Valley Health and Hoke Hospital Clinch Coveted Health & Safety Recognitions: An Embodiment of Excellence in Maternity Care and Patient Safety

Cape Fear Valley Health has received prestigious recognition from the globally authoritative U.S. News & World Report as a 2026 Maternity Care Access Hospital. This significant designation is awarded to hospitals that provide vital maternity services to underserved communities and is an indispensable part of the U.S. News’ Best Hospitals for Maternity Care ratings. This recognition aims to guide expecting parents to make informed decisions about safe and reliable maternity care providers.

U.S. News, in its third year of administering the Maternity Care Access Hospital designation, honored hospitals that are vital to communities at risk of becoming maternity care deserts. They evaluated nearly 900 hospitals across the nation, out of which a mere 16 percent, equating to 147 hospitals, earned this notable recognition. This assessment considered information presented through the annual U.S. News Maternity Services Survey.

Mike Nagowski, Chief Executive Officer of Cape Fear Valley Health, expressed his profound gratitude for receiving this honor. Aligning it with their commitment to provide families in their region with safe, compassionate, and high-quality maternity care, he appreciates his dedicated team of physicians, nurses, and staff for their unwavering daily efforts.

Meanwhile, Hoke Hospital has garnered the revered 2025 Leapfrog Top General Hospital designation, acknowledging its excellence in patient safety and quality. This accolade signals the hospital’s commitment to outstanding patient safety and places it among a top tier of hospitals with similar achievements in the United States. The Leapfrog Group, a non-profit organization respected for its rigorous hospital safety evaluations, conducted the assessment that led to Hoke Hospital receiving this honor. This marks the second occurrence of the hospital being awarded this status.

Finally, the city of Fayetteville continues to strive towards enhanced pedestrian safety and connectivity. It now boasts a total of 316 miles of citywide sidewalks. Citiznes are always encouraged to practice the best pedestrian safety measures possible.
