Ohio-based Aultman Hospital has set a precedent by becoming the first health facility within the state to be awarded the Advanced Sterile Processing Certification (ASPC) from the international certification authority, DNV. This prestigious certification acknowledges the hospital for its integrity and devotion to superior sterile processing practices within key areas, such as infection prevention and control, surgical services, endoscopic services, and associated departments.
Aultman has achieved this milestone in partnership with Crothall Healthcare, which facilitates their sterile processing services. Chris Parrish, the senior vice president of Perioperative Services at Aultman, underscored the significance of the certification. He stated that it symbolizes the organization’s commitment and capability to provide optimum care to all surgical and endoscopic patients.
Highlighting the combination of top-tier equipment, a skilled personnel pool, and comprehensive training, Parrish credited these factors as the cornerstone of their sterile processing superiority. Securing the ASPC certification is testament to their diligent work aimed at ensuring patient health and safety.
The requirements for ASPC accreditation are dictated by the guidelines and recommendations of several notable organizations. These include the Association of Perioperative Nurses, the Association for the Advancement of Medical Instrumentation, and the Association for Professionals in Infection Control and Epidemiology.
