The list assesses hospitals in 30 countries around the world which were meticulously curated based on several comparability criteria including the standard of living/life expectancy, population size, number of hospitals, and the availability of reliable data within each country.
The countries ranked include many of the large economic powers such as the USA, Germany, Japan, and France, but also a diverse range from India and Australia to Israel and Singapore. Four key sources of data dictated the rankings drawn up by Newsweek and Statista, weighed according to their importance. These rankings, therefore, represent a significant achievement for any healthcare provider, indicating not only supremacy at a national level but also competing on the global stage.
